Visiting Artist Topic: Non-traditional Papercrafts
Students were tasked with using the techniques of traditional papercutting: symmetry, interlocking shapes, interplay between positive/negative space to translate a normally small scale delicate process into a large-scale Tyvek-based site-responsive installation. The installation utilized one of the many rudimentary smoking structures that were located throughout the campus. The imagery drew on associations of smoke and the specific landscape surrounding the specific structure used.
